Building Digital Excellence Since Day One
Tyler Day and Joey Mendoza started Above Design because they kept watching the same problem play out: a company needed a developer, hired someone full-time, paid six figures in salary and benefits, and ended up with a person whose skills either didn't match the project or far exceeded it. Hourly, project-based development fixes that. You get senior-level work when you need it, and you stop paying for it when you don't.
Our Core Values
Quality First
We never compromise on code quality, security, or user experience. Every project receives our full attention.
True Partnership
We integrate as an extension of your team, aligning with your goals and communicating transparently.
Innovation Driven
We stay ahead of technology trends to deliver solutions that are modern, scalable, and future-proof.
Reliable Delivery
Commitments matter. We deliver on time, on budget, and above expectations—every time.
Full Product Lifecycle, One Team
Above builds everything. Marketing websites, internal tools, customer-facing web applications, SaaS platforms, mobile apps, e-commerce systems, client portals — if it runs in a browser or on a device, it's in scope. The full product lifecycle is handled in-house: concept, UX design, MVP development, launch, and long-term support. The same team carries a project from the first whiteboard session to the day it's live and well past it. That matters more than most clients realize until they've handed a half-built product to a new team and watched three months disappear while everyone gets up to speed.
What We Deliver
White-Label Development Under Your Brand
White-labeled development is a substantial part of what we do. Marketing agencies, consultants, and digital firms bring us in under their brand when a client needs technical work the agency doesn't staff internally. We build it, you deliver it, everyone's happy. No awkward introductions, no brand confusion.
Training Programs
Spec Driven Development
- Consistent output from distributed teams
- Scalable beyond 3+ contributors
- Predictable delivery on large projects
Ethical & Safe AI Usage
- Evaluate AI outputs critically
- Integrate AI tools into real workflows
- Avoid legal and operational liability
Spec Driven Development & AI Training
Our corporate training practice teaches Spec Driven Development, the methodology we use internally to keep distributed development teams producing consistent, predictable output on large projects. Most teams that scale past three developers hit a wall where communication breaks down and code quality gets inconsistent across contributors. Spec Driven Development is the fix. We also run dedicated training on ethical and safe AI usage: how to evaluate outputs, how to integrate AI tools into real workflows, and how to do it without creating legal or operational liability.
Custom Workflow Automation That Scales
Automation is where we tend to go deepest. We build custom workflow automations connecting any application with an open API — CRMs, project management platforms, billing systems, communication tools, industry-specific software. If it has an API, we can make it talk to everything else in your stack. We've built production integrations in the legal tech space with platforms like Filevine, Clio, MyCase, and SmartAdvocate, but that's one vertical among many. The pattern is the same regardless of industry: find the manual processes eating your team's hours, and eliminate them.

Tyler Day
Co-Founder
I grew up building computers and teaching myself how software works—taking things apart just to understand how to make them better. At the same time, I was drawn to design: how things look, feel, and connect with people. Today, I combine that lifelong love of building with a deep focus on thoughtful design to create digital products that are both powerful and intuitive.

Joey Mendoza
Co-Founder
I build custom AI and automation implementations for businesses that are done watching their team do things a computer could handle. My work spans serverless architectures, N8N and Zapier workflow builds, and API integrations across virtually any platform stack.
In 2026 I was invited to MIT to co-instruct a course on AI and Automation, covering Spec Driven Development and serverless solutions. I teach several classes a month on getting practical, real-world use out of these tools inside your business.
